Friends of the PCI Library June 2025 Letter
Dear Friends,
Good News from The Friends of the PCI Library:
We have signed a Letter of Agreement with MuralArts for creation of a new Library mural. Together we will develop a theme for a mural on the stairway wall of PCI Library; dedicated, talented artists will then create the mural over the next year. We will have to expect delays as we work through these turbulent times; but we can look forward to a joyous celebration when it is completed.
If you are not already a member of the Friends, please consider joining now in support of this wondrous endeavor. The project will be totally financed by the Friends. Here’s the link:

The Board of the Friends of PCI is looking for some specific volunteer support as well. We are hoping for someone with professional marketing experience who can help generate ideas for membership recruitment. In addition we are looking for a volunteer to help develop our website. We really need help getting it into shape. Please fill out this form if you are interested in helping us out.
All public libraries need our support. We have recently lost IMLS (Institute of Museums and Library Services); the independent agency of the U.S. federal government that has financially supported libraries and museums since 1996. In early May Dr. Carla Hayden, Librarian of Congress, was fired. She was the first woman and the first African-American to have held the position of Librarian of Congress. She was abruptly fired without warning or cause. Dr. Carla Hayden has been a crusader for libraries for decades. She has been a principled and devoted leader, highly regarded by her peers. Todd Blanche, Trump’s former defense attorney, is now Acting Librarian of Congress.
I hope everyone has a peaceful and happy summer with family and friends.
With best wishes,
Judith Everitt
President, Friends of PCI Library
